@adslmax - and this is exactly why you need to stop the continual testing. You would not even notice the glitches you are observing if you just used the service as it is intended rather than continually looking for problems with it by running never ending tests.
Remember this is a consumer grade service you are paying for and if you want an uncontended connection with 24/7 support at your fingertips then you can get that but it will be very very expensive, and for your use case would be a complete waste of money.

To be honest I am not bothered anymore. Just carry on normal Full Fibre. No more listening about spiked. I just fed up of hearing from peoples telling me porkies about latency too high on full fibre. Honest, I don't care!
No more checking TTB monitor, no more checking for spiked, the speed & service are fine just like what kItz say and other says.

Not going to waste my time anymore now.

Cheers  ;)

Best forgetting all about it and moving on.    I havent checked recently but I had a router that always showed me the tiny yellow spikey uneveness at the top of the graph. Its obvious with some routers than with others.. by design these routers prioritise real traffic above ping checks. Thus when graphing the increased ping time (latency) gives a false impression.  In reality nothing is wrong, just your router being slower responding to the data type ping response back to TBB while giving priority to other data types.  This isnt a bad thing, some high spec Internet routers wont respond at all to ICMP... either as a security measure or just only concentrating on other types of web traffic.

Best not calling anyone out pple from elsewhere.  Some people do genuinely try and help and give you their time and advice.  There are others that do deliberately attempt to trigger you.   I dont know what happened on another forum for me to say either way, so it's perhaps best on this occasion to close the chapter.  You are extremely lucky to have such a fast connection and even if it was running at half your speed, then you likely would never know because everything is still working fine   There's more to life and the Internet than stats and speedtests, you need to find a new game or something similar to  replace the time spend worrying about your connection :)

I agree Kitz. Best forget it. Move on. We now happy with full fibre. No need speedtest or checking spiked anymore. I have deleted TTB BQM for the better of me to get on with my own life. Enjoy the gaming flight simulator, watching netflix, snooker (love the world championship one!) and also go walking, swimming and love that Emmerdale daily to watch it.

When Full Fibre is downtime, then speak to Martin. But so far everything is fine. No more stresseed out over spiked, speedcheck.

I agree FTTP 900/115 is fastest enough for me and my daughter.

Next year, will switch over to Plusnet FTTP (330/50) to save the cost. This FTTP 900/115 is just one off with Aquiss for next 12 months (including first 3 months 50% off) as I don't care about losing Static IP etc.

Anyway take care everyones. Also thanks for try help me out. But that now best forgotten.  :)

the 'slow speed' issue was due to his daughter's boyfriend downloading

@kitz, is there no way to stop posters from editing/deleting posts after a certain time, eg a couple of hours after posting perhaps, as it's certainly a feature on other forums I'm on? Personally I'd not want editing turned off altogether as I regularly hit the post button and then realise I've mistyped something or could have phrased it better.

Aye thanks.  Chrys alerted me about the post from Aquiss and I posted about it but it may have got lost or muddled with all the other moved posts.  Unfortunately I was unable to do it yesterday, but will I aim to sort, replace and split off the speedtest posts from the older posts whilst he was still waiting for his connection to be activated. It just needs a bit of cleaning up.

Re the courtesy editing, yes it is possible.  It was 7 days for a short while, but admin/mods were getting a lot of requests to update posts in the hardware section.   Most forums tend to have it switched off (default) or set at 30 days..  I suppose it depends on the type of forum, but when we were very busy with modem software & firmware, hacking routers and the stat monitoring tools 7 days was far too short in those sections.    30 days worked well- up until now :(  :/

@Max.   I really am happy for you.   You waited long enough and been through so many changes whilst on that journey.

I wouldnt say yet what you are going to do next year. Its a way off yet. Once you settle down and start enjoying your connection doing what broadband is supposed to be for, then come next year you may want to just leave things as they are.  Why upset the apple cart? A lot could happen between now and next Jan.    I don't see any point in thinking about changes just yet.  Wouldnt it be nice to not have to think about broadband other than as a utility.  The majority of population see it as something that just works in the background and not much different to turning on a tap to get water, or flick a switch to get electricity.  I cant imagine you going that far, but if you have a decent isp, then you shouldnt need to do speedtests or stats.  You only need to do that if you notice something seems slow. FTTP should mean that you no longer need to worry about line stability.  :)

May be false economy to switch though, as slower speed means more likely to impact your daughter and she might be considering her own connection again - which would no doubt be more expensive than just sticking to what you have now and sharing the cost.

Yeah you and kitz are probably right. Stick with 900/115 next year.

Ive split off and merged posts about the speedtests to form this new thread so as to keep the install thread separate.
