Openreach and Sky announce joint venture to install full fibre to 90% of UK by 2025.

Quote
The announcement came late Saturday evening with little details. What we know is that deal has been done between Openreach and Sky announcing their joint investment plans for full fibre for at least 90% of the UK by 2025.

Work will start in these locations first;

London
Birmingham
Sheffield
Manchester
Liverpool
Cardiff
Swansea
Edinburgh
Glasgow

Well, this is good news. I knew there would be some kinda plan like this happening. I wish it would happen sooner. But then at least we're heading in the right direction ;)

This has to be the best one that I've done.   It apparently had a few technical people thinking it could really work.

The new discovery, known as Advanced Frequency DMT (AF.DMT), relies on enhanced crosstalk-cancellation technology to allow the use of both wires in the twisted pair for the simultaneous transmission of data.

I should have patented the idea, because this was back in the 2009 that I came up with the idea of using noise cancellation technology with G.DMT as an April Fool,  then in 2011/2012 some bright spark invented G.Vectoring.  lmao I even mentioned combining it with VDSL.  :-X

Aye - after I'd written it up we passed a preview version to someone who worked in engineering and communications to see what they thought and even they admitted it got them thinking, because parts of it seemed almost plausible.   If I ran that today, everyone would just think.. oh  vectoring on copper.

  The idea of sending signals down each wire of a cable pair is very old. It has been used for years with +- 80 volt signalling to earth for years until it got replaced by modems. The system was called telegraph, and it was a pain in the rear to telephone circuits where ever it was used......
