Hello everybody,
I just have buyed an SMC7904WBRAS-N, i have of course changed the default password, and after this, i have tried to telnet this adsl modem router, but no way...
I always get an logon error...

I tried :
login : admin
login : mypassword

login : root
login : mypassword

login : smcadmin
login : mypassword

---

login : root
login : root
this one have worked, but impossible to enter official smc telnet commands... it don't work???

Can someone help me please ?

Hi and welcome

I'm not familar with that modem/router, but I'll make some observations:

- with some routers, changing the GUI password doesn't change the telnet password, so you should try the default values if you haven't already

- you could try restoring the factory default settings, and see if you can login via telnet then.

Sorry that's probably not much help, but hopefully someone else will have some better ideas.

it's of course what i have done...

Tried hard reset, and tried after to login in telnet, but no way...

Tried also to downgrade to oldest firmwares and tried to telnet logon... No way...

I have sent a message to SMC Website, but still no answer...

I don't recommand to anybody to buy those routers SMC brand, because i think, the brand is dying...
it was a good brand some years ago (telling to an internet geek "barricade" was exciting him/me, but now... time have gone... and no support from smc.com)

Also if you search about smc barricade on adsl website, you will found nothing interesting... nothing recent... only topic which are 3/5 years old writed...

I will see and wait if they answer me...

Any idea ? to log on telnet from local network on smc7904WBRAS-N ?
I have sent messages to SMC support, but don't have received any answer...

Did someone on the forum have this modem router and can provide me some help please ?

Oh dear. I am sorry to read that you are still having trouble logging into that modem/router. 

I have no experience of using one of those devices but have just performed a search and found a copy of the User Guide. In that document it mentions for the GUI interface --

The username and password of the super user are admin and smcadmin

I wonder if they are also the correct credentials to login via a telnet connection? 

Perhaps you could try them?
