OK so my sync problems are sorted now so that's not the issue here.

It's always good to relate how a problem was resolved so that others perhaps can benefit if they have a similar problem.

Was it the location of the router ?

Was it the change from O2 to ADSL24 ?

Was it something else ?

No offence, but the title of this thread is about a new router! Nothing to do with problems from before! However, it was the cable I was using from the phone socket to the router. I bought a shielded one.

a router with a Broadcom chip is best for standard ADSL broadband that I have.

My current DG834G hasn't got that,
1. Depends onthe ISP and their equipment. Who is it?
2. How do you know? What version is it?

Mr Grumpy?

ADSL24 who advise a broadcom one is better.

I have the v3 which has the broadcom wireless chip but not the adsl chip. Whether it makes much noticable difference I don't know.

Thanks, you perhaps have helped several people searching the forum for a solution to similar problems.

Also with the new cable, perhaps you may not need a new router ?

If they are like the O2/Be LLU setup then yes it will be.
A v4 or GT will work well but NOT a v5.

Are we talking a noticable difference though, or just a slightly higher sync or something?

Now connected to my new ISP. Youtube videos no longer buffer and it all seems much faster. So changing to a new ISP can help...

If it was O2 Access any ISP would be better.

Yeah it was O2 Access! Video's constantly buffering - no idea why as speed tests showed the same speed I am on now with my new ISP. But hey, it works.

Don't think I will change my router. However I can only sync at 3900 which was around the same as O2. A month ago I could sync at 4600. I'm wondering if the weather is effecting sync speeds.

You may still be in line training mode.

Ok so after the training period of 10 days, then what? Will it auto disconnect and resync or do I have to do that? I don't understand how that works really.
