Sky DG934 router (netgear)
« on: November 15, 2009, 05:38:24 PM »

hi all

i am trying to flash my old sky router so i can use it with my current isp.

i have run through the guide on kitz web site using the upgradewizard.exe but after choosing my nic card and clicking next, the device list is empty.

i have tried it with xp, win7 and vista with 3 different nic adaptors but all show no devices.

i have manually set the ip range to the same as the router - same.

disabled any firewall etc - same.

ensured the router is in flash mode with the 2 lights alternating - same.

any ideas??

Have a look at this thread: http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,2735.0.html

Reply number 4 suggests that the flashing can be achieved in another manner and instructions are provided.  I haven't tried it myself so cannot confirm whether it works or not, however it may be worth a try.

thanks for that orainsear, but it doesnt work ... tried it a few times today...

anyway .. sussed it now, when the upgradewizard is run, it has to have an exact copy of the firmware which is already installed.  my router didnt have a version number for some reason so i grabbed a ver from netgears ftp which was a sky ver for the 934 which flashed ok but its still a sky.

then followed the instructions as before but still stuck on device list being empty.  changed nic to 100mb half duplex and it then found the router, swapped the firmware vers to an 834 and clicked upgrade - first bsod seen in win7 !!!

rebooted and ran in compatibility xp sp3 mode and it worked.

Glad you got it sorted.

>>>changed nic to 100mb half duplex

Out of interest what was your NIC set to when your router wasn't being recognised?
