:fingers:
The exchange  LCKEN cab 28

PCP 28 got an ECI cabinet in 2013.
They added a Huawei cabinet in 2019.

If your FTTC has been live since before June 2019 then you will be on the ECI cabinet.
If you activated your FTTC after that date then the chances are you're on the Huawei cabinet, but could really be on either.

Either of the 3 modems you listed will tell you which you are synced to.

The Vigor 166 is useless on VDSL2.
Part of its huge cost is the newer G.Fast chipset. If you have no intention going G.Fast then it's a waste of money.

Hi
I got it as ive had problems finding a modem
I was getting a draytek vigor 130 but on calling, it was on back order at every shop
Even the 166 was low or out

I'd like gfast, but is cab 28 getting it
I guess id be to far anyway

We may move at some point, but as fttp is around if we get the option id get fttp over gfast

I could get ZyXEL VMG8324-B10A when it come in, thats broadcom im told so if i could get a port move would that be better

Im told the card in the cab has a lot of bad ports and needs a new bigger card, is there someway to verify this  ::)
Its from my isp btw

They regularly come up on eBay - eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384190126001?hash=item59738417 will likely go for under £15.

Ive rounded it up to Zyxel VMG4005B50A (broadcom), Draytek, and Fritz!box 7530 (intel) as there's seems to be problems with shortages in the uk

What do you think

I can only comment on the ZyXEL as that's the only one on your shortlist I have used (aleit a different model). I know there are some questions over ZyXEL's support but there is plenty of activity on the forums on them. As I say, mine is online at the moment and seems to be holding well. I haven't set up a link to the stats as yet as I am busy setting up my broken network stuff :(. But it is definitely working as well as the old HG612 wich blew upin a thunder storm.

The exchange  LCKEN cab 28

After inputting the above data into Magenta  Systems' CodeLook I see --

Quote
Cabinet P28      FTTC Available from 31st January 2013, expanded 21st June 2019      Phase 8b 2012      612      ECI      LA9 6EZ

So if you were one of the early adopters of a VDSL2 (FTTC) based service you would be connected to an ECI Hi-FOCuS Mini-Shelf M41 DSLAM. However if you took a VDSL2 based service after 21st June 2019 then there is a good chance that you are connected to a Huawei SmartAX MA5616 (or newer) DSLAM.

Edit: I see j0hn has already replied with his interpretation . . . fortunately we both agree.  :)

Then, unfortunately, your circuit will be connected to the ECI M41 . . .  :(

I can now confirm this
Its bad on vdsl2 droping by almost 10 down vs a vr2100

This is from my ISP talking to O.R I guess
I need help with this guys

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exchange solution is required to complete the job
due to DSLAM tie pair issue.
Lums number is AF IE 1245440966 no spare ports slow sync on 626.
Incident ID: Lums number AF IE 1245440.
confirmed as working OK:End customer set up,D-side,DP terminations,NTE / SFFP,PCP / SCP terminations

Lums case AF IE 1245440966 pcp28

BTW NI: well, all i've managed to get out of them in 30 minutes is " please check back on 28/05 "

BTW NI: basically, this is a faulty port
BTW NI: and they've run out of spares
BTW NI: so they need to go back and either fix the faulty ones or add more ports ( ideally both )

BTW NI: i've chased them up :)
BTW NI: that flags on the managers screen...
BTW NI: that might push them to send someone out

Summary

4-864969263503 current open fault.

Need a chase on this LUMS case.

Cannot declare this as stable and within estimates and there is an open LUMS case. All faults chasing issue are closed/times out. New fault open to facilitate supplier contact.

an: Pcp has recently gone through a deload reload into a new shell located another 25-30m away but still well within 100m mark. Sync ok with max rate 81.95Mb in new pcp

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So if this is right and its causing my speed drop, and the cards and ports are full, why don't O.R order the parts and fix?

Hi SE,

Burakkucat theorised on your other thread that you are connected to an eci m41:

https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,25981.msg436384.html#msg436384

Interestingly your notes suggest the ECI has been put in a new shell, which matches what CarlT posted in June 2019:

So, now Andrew at Think Broadband has written about it I suppose I can write a bit too: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/8456-openreach-looks-set-to-replace-eci-cabs-with-huawei

Initially replacing of some ECI gack with Huawei SmartAX MA5818 - these are 2RU 4 x half-slot chassis capable of taking 4 x 48 port VDSL cards, 4 x 24 port G.fast cards, capable of VDSL also, or a combination of the two, software permitting.

There also may be replacement with SmartAX MA5616 - these are the small Huawei DSLAMs that have gone from taking 96 VDSL lines to 128 and now 256 with cabinet upgrade.

There'll be an initial pilot to see how things go. Going forward if it's all good it'll be a part of a concerted effort to be rid of this hardware entirely and, with it, remove one of the impediments to removing ECI OLTs/L2S/headends too.

still deciphering the rest of it

The PCP deload / reload was the moving of all copper connections in the PCP to a new one, it wasn't work done on the DSLAMs.

Hi SE,

Don't expect a fix too soon, mines been outstanding for a couple of years now. No ports available on my ECI cab, only ones left are not working/faulty... :( now sitting at the bottom of speed range... just, no upgrade work planned for cab either.
Vodafone promised 73Mb, got 40ish with lots of discount on price ;)

Oh and mines cab 13!! ::)

Hi parkdale
Omg  ???
Cab 13 and two years wait, what colour are your cat cables.. black  >:D

I was hoping weeks, but I guess not
What with O.R saying its closed even though it needs fixing

What are the symptoms with you?
Was it interference, drops at night (im told by isp) and a sudden speed drop, or was it gradually slowing

When you say 40, is that set in stone, did it fluctuate all over

My speed is stuck at 36 tops
But the isp wants to test the hardware side, them move to adsl, then back to vdsl
