Gubbins (a different one) is powered by a 9V battery of the PP3 size. The snap-fit connector is decidedly "iffy" and requires replacement. A simple job . . . so it seemed. The plan of action involved purchasing the minimum quantity of the connectors (preferably just one), snip through the wires as close as possible to the existing connector, strip back the insulation and solder the wires to the new connector. Finally slip an insulating "jacket" over the newly fitted connector.
Can I find a source of the connectors
without pre-fitted leads?
eBay gives me in excess of 800 different sellers. Amazon is typically Amazon. It gave me three different sources with pre-fitted wires, then pages of listings for wheelbarrows (with and without wheels), dog leads, emergency attack alarms, ladies' leg-waxing kits . . . (
Why, Amazon,
why?), RS Components had two types, both with pre-fitted leads, and those available from Proto-Pic were similar to those from RS Components. Maplin is no more . . .
Any suggestions, please?
