Hi
I was here long ago with ADSL issues and finally tracked my issue down to a faulty PSU for a PC in a house opposite. Long gone are those days and i moved into a Virgin area and got the 152Mbps service and all was good!
I ave now moved again into a new estate with no Virgin so i went for VDSL.
The first day the Engineer could not find a dial tone so someone else came on day 2. The builders had cabled the master socket to the upstairs faceplate so bt jelly crimped it to downstairs where i have two extensions...on a split system.
These were the stats:
Connection Speed 39998 kbps 9435 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.4 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 18.6 dB 6.6 dB
So i thought i would check the proper speed and connected the router upstairs removing the extensions:
Connection Speed 39998 kbps 9999 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.3 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 26.4 dB 14.14 dB
Nice...until for a week i had no dail tone. Thinking it was me i connected it all back up to the extension etc and the stats went back to the first set. Still no dail tone etc so i logged a fault and it came back as a frames fault.
Engineer attended yesterday and suggested (hesitantly) that is was a new installation and someone 'moved' my cable around the cabinets the incorrect way running it in the front of the cab or whatever.
He repaired and i have a phone line however the stats are now:
Connection Speed 39919 kbps 7345 kbps
Line Attenuation 22.5 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 6.4 dB 6.6 dB
So...any ideas what has happened? I explained the stats were terrible compared but he said im getting 40/10 so its fine.
Any ideas...could a single installation be causing this much cross talk or im possibly thinking bridge tap? I miss Virgin so much right now
