Hi
Whilst I initially thought my modem in bridge mode was fine on v15 I have reverted it back to v14 for now.
The main reason for this seeing the power dbm dropping from 4.1 to 2.7 and the upstream snrm changing from 12.4 to 9.5.. changed the modem back to v14 and resynced around the same time of day and the 2 things that changed are back where they were pre upgrade.
Perhaps others could have a look pre & post upgrade at power dbm and upstream snrm (eci cab user).
Thanks
This is quite normal and the power can change, it might have just changed back if you did a resync with the same firmware version, or might be an improvement in the v15 firmware. There is no point using a higher power on the upstream or the downstream if you are getting the maximum sync speed with margin to spare. The power steps back if it can for a couple of reasons, one, it reduces cross-talk of your signal with other users (and doesn't cost you any speed in this case), also the signal can echo back, so the v15 firmware might be detecting that better and reducing the power to improve the transmission by removing echos and so reducing errors.
Put it this way, if you were stood 2 feet away from someone in a quiet room you wouldn't shout at them, you would reduce your volume and give yourself much more expression. VDSL is the same, just because you can up the volume, if it isn't necessary it is better not to.
There are hundreds of measurements and metrics that go into deciding how the VDSL connection is established, we just focus on a couple and think the higher the better, but in the case of power, the lower the better, and great if you can reduce power but still have enough margin to keep the same sync speed, that's showing a better connection, not worse.
