BT Home hub 3 serial - no sticker - help ?
« on: November 02, 2013, 11:47:53 AM »

Hi I know its a relitely old router but I have a BThomehub 3 router that I need to get into admin / settings and owner has lost the little plastic bit with the serial number on it that is password

He also removed the bottom sticker for "security reasons"  :'( so I have no serial number to use as password , cannot get into settings or even flash it back to older firmware when passwrd used to be admin  :) .

Anyway I can get the serial wireless key etc without it being on unit to get in to change his account settings please anyone any ideas if / how i can retrieve the serial or is it toast unless he can find the plastic bit that should be in router

otherwise its a new router but dont like to scrap this I fear that he has long since thrown away his sticker , lol

Hello and welcome to the Kitz forum.

:hmm:  Hmm . . . It does appear to be a bit of a problem. Obviously you could perform a 'restore to factory defaults' by means of a 'straightened-out paper clip in the reset hole' technique but you would still need to know the device's serial number for the default password.

Try as I might, I cannot think of any easy way to establish the device's serial number.

Have you tried asking the people over at PsiDOC (the specialists at 'Poking BT with a stick...') if they have any suggestions?

Hmmm, I am also stumped :(.

I don't think the serial number would even be found if you could 'hack' into it.
