I had this some time ago, and in this thread
http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=1956.0

roseway kindly posted this response :-

"Your IP address is visible to any site which you visit. If you think about it, this has to be the case, because when you request a web page the server needs to know where to send it. This is quite normal, and isn't a security issue.

The message you saw is exactly what it says - simply a small bit of control by the forum software. I think its purpose is to stop malicious attackers posting a flood of messages in quick succession."

Thanks everyone, I tend to only log in for an hour at a time 'cos I do have a habit of wandering off when I have multiple tabs open and my time had just run out when I wanted to post so had to log in again, so that seems to be the answer.

I think that message appears when the user's computer is about to explode. It's a special extra service provided by the forum. :D

Its a security feature of the software to stop the server being flooded by bot type activity.

If you log in and then make a post (or make 2 posts or anything that sends info to the server rather than receiving) within 15 seconds you will get that message displayed.

Me too.
.. and yes 'Total time logged in' is actually a bit misleading, since it only records your actual Active time on the forum.
Your session will expire even if the browser window is still open and theres been no activity for 15 mins.
