This will probably not be of very much interest, except to me, but I have this week discovered a replacement for crumpets !!   (plural )   
We can't get crumpets here,  BUT we can get Blinis, and the large size resemble crumpets so much that I decided to toast one and VOILA  !!  almost the same .... after being deprived of them for 15 years it's quite a find.

Now I was going to head this topic as "Crumpet back on the menu"        but I think it would have tipped TD over the edge 

.................and now, just like the bacon butties,   you'll all be wanting crumpets

Ive never heard of Blinis before.. so I couldnt help myself... and a quick google doesnt seem to call much up aside from they come from Russia and are mostly eaten with salmon or caviar.

The ones Ive seen seem to look more like pancakes (or scotch pancakes).

OF         I'd  thought of that  -     but as my  craving is fairly spontaneous   I decided that crumpet by post is not the same        (sorry TD    )



Kitz .....  blinis are lovely with sour cream as well;  I first ate them with caviare   (which I don't particularly like)  in Russia about 20 years ago !   the smaller ones are pretty flat surfaced, but I've found these larger one that have holes all over them and the butter seeps through - just like REAL crumpets   ...    those you sent look delicious  !!!     mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
