FritzBox updated to FRITZ!OS Version 07.50
« on: January 18, 2023, 09:23:00 AM »

Overnight Zen updated my FritzBox (aka FRITZ!Box) 7530 to version 7.50 (was 7.29).

Interesting updates include VPN using WireGuard. More about everything at https://en.avm.de/products/fritzos/

Just what we need, an even more advanced method for an ISP to mess with our devices.  :-\

Seems like this has a lot of scope for abuse to me. https://www.avsystem.com/blog/TR-369/  You'd have to REALLY trust your ISP!

Also begs the question, have they replaced TR-069 in this release or they don't let you turn that off?

I trust Zen, always had a good service, anytime I've had to talk to them they've treated me like a grown up. My router has lots of bespoke settings, none of those were touched during updates.

But if you're cynical (I usually am), you can disable TR-069 on the FB. It under Internet-> Account Information -> Provider Services. See also https://fritzhelp.avm.de/help/en/FRITZ-Box-7530-avme/avme/021/hilfe_netzwerk_providerservice

That is good to know; a definite plus point.

I must admit I never heard of TR-369 until I noticed the setting. BTW I see there's new bugs in the web interface already :D, roll on next version.
Bit swap "to"?? why not "on".

It wasn't Zen that updated your Fritzbox, but AVM. New updates are pushed automatically to all connected Fritzboxes unless you opt out. So, I'm afraid nothing to do with TR-069.

AVM are aware of the few bugs in the English translation. Plus, there is an issue with the display of not all clients properly displayed on the WiFi network. For example, my chromecast audio is connected but not listed in the list of online devices. Nevertheless, this is not consistent behaviour affecting Chromecast audio only.

Once you untick the TR-069 setting, you won't be able to turn it back on. And this setting was also in the previous version, so not new.

It was more that TR-369 is an evolution of TR-069, so I was puzzled why they wouldn't both be on the same page.  I suppose it makes some sense though, given the latter is for provisioning by the service provider only, whereas the former is meant to expand on that so it can be used for provisioning, ongoing monitoring and end-user modifications.

parkdale, in Reply #1, showed it to be under the "Internet >> Account Information >> Provider Services" tab with a FRITZ!Box 7590.

I updated my 7530 to 07.50 last Saturday 14th and this morning it totally froze and was inaccessible, requiring a power off/on reset. First time this has happened in over 3 years use! Coincidence? Time will tell.

You should contact AVM about this, but it's always a good idea to reset a unit after a firmware update. Mine has been ok since the update was released 8 days ago.

There's a way to get logs in Fritzbox, though since yours completely froze, then it's probably useless.

(In the old version, it was here: https://en.avm.de/service/knowledge-base/dok/MyFRITZ-App/1426_Generating-support-information?t_id=5355330. In the new version, it's: Help and Info > Fritzbox Support at the bottom of the page)

Does anyone have the problem of not all WiFi clients being displayed in the overview and diagram in the new version, or is it just me? It seems to affect Android-related devices, such as my phone, Chromecast Audio and also LG washer.

I've no missing clients using WiFi.. The only device I have trouble with is Apple 4Ktv losing lan connection >:D, not a fault with Fritzbox but poor DHCP control on Apples iOs system, which I cant do any thing about.
I extended the Fritzbox DHCP lease time to 90 days to see if that helps, so far no problems :fingers:
