The VMG1312-B10A only has 2.4Ghz wireless, you would be better off with the VMG8924-B10A which is dual band 2.4Ghz and 5GHz. I have used this device and it works very well although I have used it in modem mode also providing the wi-fi connection but with a separate router. It would be fine as a single box solution.
Cheers , is the VMG8924-B10A suitable for long lines ( attn 58 ) ?
I believe it may have the same quality chipset as my own VMG1312-B10A devices. These are used on extreme length copper ADSL2 lines successfully, > 7km.I would definitely give them a try. I’m sure someone will be able to help you with unlocking.
Mine was ex-John Lewis but I couldn't find any indication of customisation other a Welcome to John Lewis leaflet in the box. Certainly no problem configuring it for A&A, nor installing normal factory firmware upgrades.
Cheers , did you manage to disable TR069 ?
I don't remember doing so, but if it's still enabled it clearly hasn't been a problem.
You'll need to get the supervisor password to do that. Depending on what firmware you are running you can get it in telnet via the dumpmdm command - https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,19186.105.htmlYou should be able to downgrade to an earlier version if your one doesn't support dumpmdm.
trying telnet to get supervisor password but keep getting the same response ?" telnetd:error:304.409:processInput:599:unrecognized command dumpmdm " any ideas what I'm doing wrong ?
I expect you are running one of the later firmware versions that no longer support dumpmdm as the admin user (V28 certainly doesn't). You'll need to install an earlier version as per my link from yesterday. I agree with @aesmith comment and doubt it'll cause any issues in normal use.
