VDSL2 FTTC SNR Margin trend over 24 hours
« on: June 28, 2016, 04:21:09 PM »

I got infinity 1 a few weeks back, and until now have been using the HH5-B which was provided.

I live in the countryside (north dorset)
My PCP/DSLAM (Huwaie 288) is at the end of my road, and my line runs overhead from there up my road past about 10 houses on the way upto mine

My physical line length is 1250m (aprox measured along the road where the overhead lines run to the PCP, allowing 10m for eatch joint in the overhead line, where the line drops down the pole to be connector and back up, plus 50m for the length from the final pole down through the pcp and across to the DSLAM)

on the HH5-B  my stats were as follows

at 23:15
line attenuation up 35.5 down 26.7
max data rate     5709 / 25708
sync                 5709 / 25040
snr margin           6.4 / 6.6

I noticed my SNR margin fluctuating throuout the day.
mean as router stats doesnt work with the HH5-B, I swapped out for a HH5-A which I had spare.

with the 5-A my stats are

at 23:15
line attenuation up 35.0 down 28.8
max data rate      5039 / 23373
sync                  5032 / 23112
snr margin             6.1/6.3

over the last 24 hours ive been monitoring the SNR margin

following a resync at 21:17 (my doing) both the up and down snr remained fairly stable, gradually increasing overnight, untill 5am when it suddenly dropped and has been up and down since.

is this normal?

ive attached some graphs to show the snr margin over time

I am no expert but maybe this is related to cross talk. Perhaps it would pay to monitor for a few days and see what results you get. I get some  change during the day on up and down but doesnt cause a issue at the mo. Can be up to 1db at times.
