Billion 8900AX-1600 R2
« on: April 13, 2016, 10:39:24 AM »

I received one of these on limited release.

Unfortunately it was a short lived affair - couldn't maintain sync on VDSL for more than 24hrs, errors a plenty (and was banded shortly after fitting). It just stalled when I tried to upload a firmware image, but that only contained a WiFi config change anyway.

I may have been unlucky and the unit was faulty, but I'd tread cautiously if you're considering picking one of these up.

I'm back on the now discontinued 8800AXL and my connection is once again rock solid.

Is it still banded? If not, can you let me know how you removed the banding please? Thanks!

You cannot remove the banding through your own actions. You either wait and hope, or you find some way to get your connection reset. This has already been discussed with you several times.

Sorry, Eric. :( I'll have to contact BT and see if they can get my a free upgrade to Infinity 2...

EDIT: Can't seem to do it online as it won't let me, maybe it's just via the phone only?

Just wait for them to offer the 55/10 tier - unless you are desperate...

From memory, even with no capping, your line can only reach the low 40s.?

I've had my 8900-1600 about 8 weeks and it's been fine.

That's reassuring. Their support did say they were trying different DSL drivers to resolve stability on certain cabs. Unfortunately I was on a time limit to return it before the RMA window expired.
