Just thinking out aloud...

Could there be aluminium on the D side?

Would it be possible for this to skew the line length calculation the OR people reported?

I don't think aluminium cable would have been laid between May 20 and Jun 5.

That's not what I meant... Its been there all along, but is responsible for the randomness of the performance.

I can't see them using Ali on a new build estate.

I just cannot see how you got 70Mbps. It would seem to defy physics.

It's a new build estate so perhaps the copper is in very good condition or they used thicker gauge, also he suggests problems with the cabinet, perhaps it was transmitting at full power/no masking. It certainly would have been interesting to have stats from the start. Although it does seem unlikely.

OP. Have you measured the most likely route from your house to the cab on Google maps or walk jog run website?

For info purposes, just because it's a new estate it doesn't automatically follow it will be new copper cable all the way back to the Cab.

It depends on the size of the estate, and whether there is spare capacity in legacy cables that can be 'picked up' to feed the new estate. The planners will perform this operation.

Hi ya

It's a good one isn't it, very baffling. Flies in the face of what is known to be industrial standard facts. I've attached a stir shot I took on the day it was installed and it remained like this till June 5th.

So it looks like your speed is limited by the attenuation.

Can you try a different cable between the master socket and the modem?

speedtest.net is notoriously innacurate.

Are you plugged into the master and is it an SSFP Infinity master socket?

Yes I'm plugged into the master socket. The master socket is one with the built in filter. It's got Openreach on it top left and MK3 top right written on it.
