Well Eric, as you have been queueing for a while now  ....... ;D

A few weeks  ago I was thinking of changing telephone operators and thus Internet provider, then had a change of mind as "Lemon"  (Orange really but known by some as Lemon  !!  ;D )   (who shall now be known as Super Lemon ! ) seemed to be the better devil !! I cancelled EVERYTHING with the other operator 3 days after ordering their service ( I had 7 days to cancel, so was in plenty of time !!!) that was the 9th December ....... on the 17th received a text message saying that all the new equipment had been sent ! ...rang them, told them I'd cancelled ... they said it was an error on their part and to refuse the parcel ......on the 20th, the morning we were going off to San Sebastian ...I was merrily doing my last things on the machine, and 'wallop' lost the connection. Slightly confused after several attempts to re-connect I decided to telephone France Telecom/Lemon ...no 'phone connection !! rang them from my portable to be told the line had been cancelled by another operator !!!   :cry2: :cry2:  explained to them the sorry saga ....... then rang other operator, they said it was an error !!!!!! (they're good at errors !!) and that I would have to get FT to reconnect and they (other op) would be responsible for the 55 Euro fee !! By this time hubby declared if we didn't set off within the next half hour we wouldn't be going !!!! Left "phoneless/ internetless" home not very happy, especially with myself as I'd been the one to instigate this in the first place  ::) ::)  hubby, bless him, didn't say a word of reproach, just kept grinning inanely !!!
Rang FT from SS and arranged for said line to be reconnected ....and asked if we could keep our number ...... thankfully we could ! received a text message from other operator, wishing us Bonne Fête      Received call from my lovely neighbour confirming that she had forged my signature and refused parcel with equipment from other operator !! Spent a very pleasant 8 days in warm sunshine, and stunning scenery surrounding us,in our mountain top corner of San Sebastian. Received a call from FT telling me that 'phone would be back on on the 27th .... returned home the 28th ...telephone ON .... internet connection NOT !!!!! received letter from other operator saying they'd be pleased to 'service us' if we change our minds in the future ...... letter in bin !!!  :-X :-X   FT called last Friday to say DSL line would be on by Tuesday and VOILA !!! I'm now awaiting bill for 55 Euros to send off to other operator !!! ...... hubby still not said a word of reproach, but STILL has that inane grin on his face !!!!    :whip: :whip:  At least I can smile about it NOW !!! but it doesn't half make you realise how dependant we've become on these machines ..... quite a worry really !
Not quite as exciting as perhaps you were hoping  Eric !!!  :D      It's been a fraught fortnight !! :flamer:   the moral of this story  ...   If it's not broke don't fix it  !!     ::)

What a delightful story. :) The only thing you did wrong was to change your mind - that's not something we chaps would do.

So not really your fault then kate - obviously the "other provider" not doing what you asked when you changed your mind within the allowed cooling off period.

>> that's not something we chaps would do.

Sends eric an icy glare.
Did you not know - its a womans prerogative to change her mind?
