Again guys, thanks for all of the help.

I've gone ahead and downloaded/subscribed to some tunneling software to get around the routing issue.

I went from 1200ms on my normal connection to 75ms with the tunnel running, or whatever the term is.

I was amazed, played happily right through the peak hours however the connection did start to get shaky 300-500ms later on at around 10pm which was strange.

I logged off anyway and hopefully I'll be able to play ok tomorrow night.

Which proxy service are you paying for if you don't mind me asking?

If your line carrier is BT then by turning the modem off at night BT systems have been known to slow the connection down thinking the line is intermittent. This in turn can cause slow speeds but not packet loss. As Kitz has suggested, look at the same tracert in the evenings and then see if you have any packet loss.

If there is any server not responding to the ping then there is no need to worry. Most servers if they are busy are set not to respond to pings to keep load times down. This is pretty much what you have seen in your logs.

Again check the connection at night and see if there is any packet loss. The issue may turn out to be the proxy server. Zen did change the peering route so that when it comes back via France telecom it takes the same route as it did going out.

The packet loss--if it occurs at the same time daily--can be caused by interference on the line as well. This my be worth looking into if the problem occurs at the same time daily.
