DGN2000 or DG834N ...which is better..?
« on: May 02, 2012, 03:37:17 PM »

Iam toying with buying one of these used from fleabay so I can install DGteam firmware etc and tweak SNR

which one is considered the best?  I like the look of the 834N but it says 270Mbps whereas DGN2000 is supposed to be 300Mbps?

anyone?

thanks

The quoted wireless N speed is an 'up to' figure anyway, and the advertised speed is unlikely to be achieved in practice, so I would say that the difference in spec is insignificant. The DGN2000 has a Broadcom 6348 chip, whereas the DG834N has the later 6358 chip, so there may possibly be a difference in ADSL performance there (but on some connections the 6348 performs better than the 6358).

Thanks Roseway - I currently use a DG834GT which has a 6348 chip and it performs ok , although the Sagem 2504N 6362 broadcom chip is definitely better sync than the GT

...the 834N has a faster CPU too (400mhz vs 266mhz on n2000) so should handle multiple traffic lanes much better

I have a DGN2000 and the WiFi performance is excellent. However, the DG834GT performs better on my line than the DGN2000 (at the current time). I haven't tried the DG834N but if it is anything like the DGN2200 (6358) it will have rather average performance.

thanks for that arobertson545 :)

I still like the 834N - I think if I get either it will be the 834N
