Author Topic: Trying to Flash Sky Netgear DG834GT, Router Not Detected by Wizard  (Read 3731 times)

I am trying to flash my Netgear DG834GT. I am using XP and once I get passed the screen where I choose the network adaptor, there is no device. Using a static IP doesn't wirk either. I am using a wired connection with the router in recovery mode. Also, I can ping the router.

Any suggestions?

What method are you using to upgrade the firmware? Normally you just do it from the web interface. But if you're trying to use the DGTeam firmware, then other methods are generally recommended.

I have also been trying tp do this for a few hours and failed every time.

It goes all through the process but when I try and access the router it does not work, well it sort of did once with DGteam firmware but it had sky login details and not all the interface pages worked.

I have done this many times with no problems.

@ Roseway how do I do it with a linux boot disk, would you have an iso image of one already setup and ready to go that I could download from you or I may be able to set up an FTP to me.

Darn, thought I had fixed it by getting the latest Netgear firmware and I could access the router and make setting changes then it all went down hill again.

It sort or goes through an endles rebooting procedures the wireless light and port come on, wireless light goes out, the power light goes out and then it repeats over and over.

If I try a simple reset it goes straight to flashing mode reset.

I think the router may be faulty or a bad flash.

I've never tried using a Linux boot disk. As I use Linux, all I've ever needed to do is download the nftp utility and run it. The method for using a Puppy Linux boot disk is described near the bottom of this page but I can't offer any personal experience of it.
