BT Speed Test whaat? Results most odd
« on: September 18, 2010, 12:06:39 PM »

Did a test and got most strange results compared to what my ISP tells me.
A comparison is set out in the table attached.
Is something going on, or a case of BT producing elevated roundish objects?

With my 47dB attenuation and 6dB noise margin BT's results do seem odd.
I am on ADSL2+ for its marginal benefits.

Your actual results are in line with what would be expected with an attenuation of 47 dB (in fact slightly better than expected) so there's nothing wrong there. The figures under "Tester" are presumably the estimate obtained from the BT database, which is often not very accurate. It's not so common for the BT database to have inflated figures - more commonly it has conservative figures - but in any case it should adapt itself in time to your actual connection figures.
