question about 21CN
« on: April 16, 2010, 04:55:21 PM »

hi all and thanks for any responses in advance.i have a couple of questions about 21CN and what difference it will make to my connection.

question 1.

whenever i have checked the status of my exchange on sam knows it usually says due to be switched to 21CN in Q4 2010. this is it >>> http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NEHYL <<<. now i have recently checked this and now there is no information on the subject at all. does this mean that it has been delayed or the date moved or even cancelled altogether?

question 2.

i would like to know if the planned switchover does indeed happen, what effect will it have on me and my connection? as you can see i am pretty limited to what i can recieve at the moment as there are no other LLU operators apart from BT but i have had bad experiences with them in the past so im currently using and ipstream product with fast. would the planned swithover to 21CN provide me with more options with other LLU providers or would i be able to gain better speeds? i currently am limited to 8mb but usually get about 6mb.

any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi DPD,

Re question 1.

I think you'll find that Sam has recently reconstructed parts of his web site.

You might try Kitz's version

RE question 2/

Your newer performance should provide some improvements but much will depend upon your line distance.
You can obtain some estimates here using your modem statistics from

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

in this page

Kind regards,
Walter

BT converting an exchange to WBC does not mean LLU operators will be available.

There are many exchanges that offer LLU ADSL2+ without BT offering WBC.

LLU availability is solely down to market forces....the bigger the exchange the more likely there'll be an LLU presence unfortunately your exchange is quite small.

I would guess that the conversion of your exchange to WBC has been delayed but only BT can confirm that.
