Router Re-Sync
« on: July 05, 2009, 10:35:42 AM »

Hi all,

My Router has re-synced  7 times since wednesday and after each re-sync the line count goes up by 1.Yesterday it was line up count 8 but when I powered up the PC this morning my router had re-synced at 7am and now the line up count is back to 1. ?

I don't turn the router off and we have not had a power cut.

Before the last re sync I my downstream was 1632 kbps, i take it this will have given me an IP profile of 1250 kbps aand will now have to wait for it to pick,if it doesn't re sync again in the mean time.

BT speedtester results........

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 1920 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 1250 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1142 kbps

These re syncs seem to happen once every few weeks, but when my router re syncs it does so a few times in about 5 or 6 days then goes stable for a few weeks.
I am wondering if I would be better with an LLU enabled isp provider, then if I do keep re syncing I don't have to about IP profiles.

Regarding the line up count, I would guess that during the night the router rebooted itself instead of merely re-syncing. This can happen when the router finds the current conditions unsustainable (or simply as a result of a glitch).

I suppose that you would be slightly better off with an LLU provider, although you won't get significantly more speed. But they may not want to take on such a long line.

We hear a great many complaints about them, probably more than any other ISP. Speaking personally, I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
