New Page - Adsl Technology and DMT
« on: January 13, 2009, 08:03:25 PM »

Ive put live a new page ADSL Technology and DMT.

Its a wee bit more techy than normal, but Ive still attempted to simplify into understandable language as much as possible.  Much of the info available is needed sometimes to aid understanding and a lot of it afaik isnt available else where - or at least without spending hours and hours going through very technical journals and books.

The page has been a while in the making, and due to xmas and me not feeling too good its been stuck at the same stage now for a few weeks.
However since I seem to be referring to it in posts on a few occasions I thought it may as well go live despite the fact that I was going to add a couple more DMT graphs and do proper proof reading..if there is anything obvious I have missed please let me know.

A very small typo I noticed, Kitz. In the Seamless Rate Adaption section right at the end of your tutorial, in the first line of the third Para I think it should read "...decreases in SNR  ensure an..."  You missed out the "r" but still a super piece.

That's really good information, and nicely presented.

Just one picky detail:

In the section "What is modulation" the word 'analogue' is spelt two different ways. The '-gue' spelling would be correct for British English.

Thanks for taking the time to proof read and point that out tony :)

I did actually type/mean ensue. Its one of those words I used to use a lot back in my banking days when writing to customers about the state of their account and the consequences afterwards..  :-X and its something I still tend to use in my vocabulary a lot even these days.

Does it look odd in that particular context? I can easily change it if it does.

Thanks eric - will change.  My speil checker didnt pick it up either.  Having had early non-UK education , I have an awful time with certain American/UK versions of certain words.
The most obvious being centre/center - which I really should have got over by now - particularly for many years I had to write "Cash Centre".    I still to this day never know which is which without really thinking about it

I think that the 'ensue' in the SRA section would read better if it's changed to 'cause' or 'result in'.

By the way, in the second paragraph of the SRA section 'loose' should be changed to 'lose'.

I like Eric's amendment "result in" and I see you've incorporated it. I think it reads better although as you explained "ensue" was equally correct.
