PMFJI but I am not getting any notifications to posts or to threads I have started at all and 'notify me of replies' is the default.

DrT
On the very bottom of this page there are 4? tabs, one of which says "Notify"
If you click it it will ask if you want to either stop watching or start watching (not those exact words but)
So if you click it now, it should indicate if you are already watching this topic, if yes, then there is another problem.
If No, then it may be a problem in your profile that needs setting.

Warning - while you were reading a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

I had a quick look earlier and Dr_T's settings seemed fine.
There was a notification marker showing at the time, but I cant recall which thread it was for.

Ive just had a look again now, and I can see which are subscribed to... and theres definitely one for this thread just gone out.

Wondering if its perhaps getting caught up in a spam filter? Ive just send a separate mail out to check if that gets through ok.

Hi Kitz,

Your test email got through and I've replied to it. No others have though. Junk folder is empty.

If you would like me to test anything at my end, please let me know. Perhaps I should change my email addy to another for testing? Think I'll do it anyway just as a check (just done before posting this).

Cheers

DrT

Thanks Oldfogy. I have changed my email back to the former one and contacted my email hosting company. I did have a problem losing legit emails before as they had some server-side spam traps. They dealt with the issue and assured me that it won't happen again. We'll see if it has.

Please reply to this to check it out and please give the time of posting so they can check their logs (ooer matron).

Many thanks for your help with this.

Cheers

Don't know if I am or not, as the only notifications I have were sent prior to the time of your last post.

Try again if you need to.

Thanks OF - I got a notification of your post.

Think its sorted what the problem was.

- Mostly the spam filters from Dr_Ts email hosts.
Something to do with  because something to do with the way I had the server config for mail to go out -
ie the forum is a subdomain of the main domain name and it couldnt authenticate/tie up the 2 names so thought it may have been spam.

Although lots of forums must be set up like that, I made some changes so that mail sent out from the forum for notifications now has its own reserved address that now ties up with the  forum subdomain, rather than being part of the main domain.
This was a rare incident, but I wanted to make some changes to make sure it couldnt happen again.

Whilst on the subject, Just a reminder to everyone that the email address used from the forum server isn't monitored and you cant reply to any email sent from the server.
