MoD computer hard drive missing (10.10.2008)
The drive was discovered to be missing during an audit
An investigation is under way into the disappearance of a computer hard drive which could contain the details of about 100,000 Armed Forces personnel.
The hard drive was being held by EDS, which is the Ministry of Defence's main IT contractor.
The MoD said it was told the drive was missing on Wednesday following a priority audit carried out by EDS.
It is thought to contain more than 1.5m pieces of information, including the details of 600,000 potential recruits.
There may also be some personal information including bank and driving licence details, passport numbers, addresses, dates of birth and telephone numbers.

Police admit to lost data blunder : (15.09.2008)
A police force has undertaken a desperate hunt for a computer memory stick after admitting it has been lost by an officer on duty.
West Midlands Police would not confirm or deny reports that the data stick contained information on terrorism.

Trust loses 18,000 staff records (15.09.2008)
Discs containing personal information on almost 18,000 NHS staff have gone missing from a north London hospital.
Whittington Hospital NHS Trust admitted the discs were lost when they were put in the post by mistake in late July.
The discs contain names, addresses, dates of birth and National Insurance numbers, of 17,990 staff members.

The information watchdog is to grill the Ministry of Defence over its data protection policies after it lost the personal details of 600,000 people.
Defence Secretary Des Brown will also speak in the Commons next week about the latest loss of personal data, which went missing when a laptop was stolen.

Lost medical data is kept secret (18.01.2008)
Up to 4,000 patients at Stockport Primary Care Trust (PCT) have not been told their medical details have been lost, it has been revealed.
A data memory stick holding patients' names, dates of birth, NHS numbers and GP details has been missing since December, the PCT said.
Patients have not been informed as the PCT believes the information cannot be used by identity fraudsters.

A senior police officer has apologised after confidential details of staff were found on a dump in Devon.

When will it end  :'(.

I think it going to be a very big problem in the future.

When I gave my free help to the local school, some parents donated there old computers to the charity run school and I would do them up for free.
Well the amount of private info on the hard drives, bank details, internet set up and log in details and passwords , emails etc.
It was mind blowing.
They never made any effort to delete it.  :lol:

It seems that if some of the general population can be this stupid, then there's no need for this inept government to be any different!  Mind you, at least with the population it's their own data they are giving away... unlike those in power who are giving EVERYONE'S data away!

I know.

My original list was just a "Two minute" search using the words "Lost Data" in the search box (not using Google)
God only knows what the result would be if I really went to town on it.
