How to reduce the 'Under 21s' Unemployment Figures at a stroke!

A very clever move by the Government will have a resounding impact upon the reduction of unemployment figures amongst the 'Under 21s' next year.
(Just in time for a General Election?)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7595155.stm

The only downside to this will probably be an enormous increase in the truancy figures amongst the 'Over 16s' next year.  ;D

Am I missing something?

Although the figures will look good for one year... wont it just be pushing things back a further year?
Its hardly going to create any new jobs for them is it.

edit just thought - it does create more teacher/tutor jobs though...

Kitz,
You got it in one!
Probably calling a General Election soon after the figures will be released next year!
Am I the only sceptic who doesn't trust any government figures?  >:(

Children starting secondary schools in England this week will be the first to be legally required to stay in education until they are 17.

I read that as meaning it only applies to those who are starting secondary school this year, not those who were already there before the summer holidays.

Hiya all,

Just my 0.02 worth. Don't you all find that much of the garbage that the present government is putting out is pretty poorly thought out in general terms. I'm not saying this lot are any better or worse than any other, but this lot do seem to be able to come up with some of the most idiotic schemes.
