[Sold] An assortment of hardware
« on: August 03, 2023, 04:33:53 AM »

Alan's sister has started to undertake the unenviable task of sorting through Alans belongings.  As expected there are many items relating to dsl & data comms.  Right now she is unsure what she is going to do with them, but we have been offered first dibs before they are dispersed/go to charity/ on ebay.  I've put photographs of these in a folder that can be viewed here:
https://postimg.cc/gallery/GdrJymS

If there is anything you are interested in or know anywhere that they may find a new home please let me know and I will pass your details on.  You will be responsible for transit or cost of postage. There are no fixed prices but a fair and just amount to the Cats Protection charity for anything of value.

The items have also been shared with Alans close friends at ElRepo and I believe the following items have already been reserved.
1858, 1865, 1883 and 1884.

Do you think 'Bletchley Park' may be interested in any of it ?.
or School's/ uni's etc.

I gave some of my stuff to a local school and they were glad of it, they even used some PCB's in art works . :)

I suggested the Telecoms Heritage Group - its something b*cat has mentioned before.
His sister has already been in touch with them and they may be interested in a few things.  I'll pass on any other suggestions.

ETA
I believe one of his ELRepo colleagues is interested in the Bletchley Park/GCHQ/Cryptology stuff.  I think Alan would have wanted his friends and collegues who had similar interest to him to have first option.

@deejay has kindly started a list to identify some of the items in the photos

Code: [Select]
IMG 1859 - Cisco SF100 - small business Cisco switch - £40 used (according to Amazon)
IMG 1881 - Nokia ONT - is used for connecting FTTP in the home - not much value because usually an FTTP ISP would provide you with an ONT anyone
IMG 1873 - ZTE 4G Hub - looks like it could be locked to 3 broadband though? looks like one of these https://shorturl.at/aeimY
IMG 1872 - Adtran XGSPON ONT - same as 1881 - not much use to anyone really
IMG 1871 - ZyXEL - looks like a VDSL or ADSL modem? Can't see a model number but looks like a ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A though?
IMG 1870 - VDSL Router - not sure on value. Not a lot?
IMG 1887 - Looks like a laser printer - seems to be £200 online
IMG 1885 - HG612 - looks like a Huawei, not OR branded one! - probably £30? The 622 I'm not sure about? That looks more like a full blown router
IMG 1994 - TalkTalk WiFi router of some description? Need to see a bit more of what is in the box.
IMG 1883 - Grandstream - telephone device? ATA perhaps? Not sure - can see a model number but it's a bit small
IMG 1882 - Comtrend VR-3000? Looks like a A/VDSL router
IMG 1880 - Openreach GPON terminal, as other GPON ONT notes above, not much value to anyone
IMG 1877 - Looks like fibre - ethernet media converters? Look old though - appear to have SC connectors on them
IMG 1879 - Another GPON terminal
