Got email from Openreach

to me, fibrecustomerservice, infrastructuresolutions.cs

Hi *******,

Thank you for your below email, I’ve done a search on the system and sadly there are still no immediate plans with Openreach to upgrade your property to fibre to the premises.

I’m very sorry about that as I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for. You do still however have access to fibre to the cabinet up to approx. 80mb and GFAST which is up to around 263mb.

You can enquire with communication providers directly for any further info on these products. Also our fibre checker will update if our plans change for fibre to the premises.

The people that make the net work | Openreach

Best Wishes,

R********* W******

You've hassled your provider for a DLM reset because your sync had dropped slightly.
Now you're emailing the executive level complaints team AGAIN asking about FTTP.

You're slipping again. Personally I think a timeout from broadband forums is required again, be that voluntary or a ban.

I usually defend you but wth max stop you need to stop posting about your lack of FTTP. We know, you know. You have access to Virgin Media (gigabit), G.Fast and FTTC at nearly the full sync rate. You have much better availability than many other users.

Sadly DLM Reset has failed. I give up. I go to town for fresh air do me good. I have to fully accepted FTTC is now staying at 77Meg sync rate that first time drop since FTTC first went live at 80/20 in 2014. Almost 9 years with full max rate. I have to stop being grumpy and moaning.

The DLM reset has doubtless done exactly what it was supposed to do. What it cannot do is change the physical properties of the wire between the cabinet and your house, which can no longer sustain 80Mbps at 6dB SNR, probably due to cross talk.
What you now need to do is leave it alone and if your error rates are low then DLM should drop your SNR to 5dB and hopefully restore the full sync rate. This may well take a few days and is not guaranteed.

Wish I could even get G.fast :)

I won't mention how variable in speed Starlink can be, you'd hate it!

Yes G.fast are pretty good before in my property 244/40 easily. Wish I never go back to SOGEA 80/20 but I staying with SOGEA 80/20 as there is NO migration path from SOGEA to G.Fast. ISP told me if I want G.fast 160/30, here the charge by Openreach below:

The costs to provision a new G.Fast service (passed on at cost) are as follows:

Residential PSTN New Line Installation = £120 including VAT (one-off)
    G.Fast Activation = £116.40 including VAT (one-off)
Total install costs: £236.40 including VAT (one-off)

The recurring monthly price for 160/30 is then as per our website, £49.99/month including VAT (provisioned on TalkTalk Business). If you wanted to specifically provision on BT Wholesale, then it'd be an extra £3.60/month for a total of £53.59/month.

I won't mention how variable in speed my service may be either, or how varied performance of third party services may be.

jOhn - I believed that SOGEA 80/20 is now blocking cap line sync 60000 from Openreach DSLAM

I try all these but come back error as all of it won't work on my Billion 8800NL

xdslcmd configure --maxDataRate 60000 20000 100000

xdslctl configure --maxDataRate 60000 20000 100000

adsl configure --maxDataRate 60000 20000 100000

Good news BT said I am eligible for BT Home Essentials – Unlimited Fibre Plan for £20 a month. Will be leaving UnchainedISP next month. I think it more sense to have line rental, unlimited call plan to landlines and mobile with FTTC 80/20 for cheaper £20 a month because of ongoing cost of living. That's will suited me fine.  ;)

• Home Essentials – Unlimited
Fibre plan
• Fibre broadband with
average speeds of 67Mbps.
Ideal for browsing the
internet, gaming, and
streaming TV.
• Unlimited minutes a month
talk time to all UK landlines
and mobiles.
• Costs £20 a month.
