and also the CBT wasn't energized in the BT Duct just outside my property so couldn't have gone live anyway!

I assume by energised they mean the fibre isn't lit (no light).
The CBT is passive equipment, no power to it at all.
Nothing is powered between the exchange and the ONT they install in your home.

Bear in mind AAISP sell VoIP for £1.20/month completely independent of your ISP.  They also have really useful things like being able to e-mail recordings of all calls to you automatically, especially useful here as mum immediately forgets anything she was told over the phone.

I am looking at this to replace my copper phone service.

Which is what I used it for as I didn't want the hassle of having to port the number multiple times if I changed ISP.

Absolutely. If it were up to me, I'd abandon the number, but my wife wants to keep it in some fashion (it's a pretty easy number as it only has 2 different digits in it), so I think that might be the ticket.

I've pretty much abandoned using my mobile for calls since I'm still shielding for the sake of my mum and calls are way cheaper than mobile now the PAYG rates have all shot up.  Also call quality on VoIP is night/day better than mobile as I've never called anyone where HD Voice is supported.

I have unlimited minutes on mine and my wifes mobile, yet she still wants a landline. I don't get it either.

Update on my You Fibre/Netomnia install new install booked in for this Thursday 8th December In Bridgend. Still no advance8d civils done which I keep nagging them about but they assure me all in in hand for the install. In the meantime following the Open Reach civil works outside our house a few weeks ago I can now order via their network. EE is offering me 1GB connection for £42 compares with You Fibre £40 but the first 6 months free.

If the install is unsuccessful again then I will cancel the contract and stay with my current provider EE and get the install done via Open reach. I notice EE is not offering a landline option if I go for the fibre - You fibre is offering a landline via VOIP for an extra £3 a month.

Fingers crossed for this week but I'm not optimistic!

I'm sure you're aware, but just a reminder OR FTTP won't be symmetrical speeds, YouFibre is 1G/1G

I know, just worried my street is going to get left out - still in planning apparently even though there are spine fibres in the ground not far away...

Further update for my second planned install date today with You Fibre. Install due between 1 and 6 today. I saw a Gt telecoms van outside the house for 5 mins this morning then disappeared. No show later today on contacting you fibre have been informed as below. Following the first visit in October this was all suppose to happen today.  What an amateur bunch, looks like I'll be going with EE or Openreach!

I have heard back from our network team Netomnia and I'm afraid it is not the news we we're hoping for.

They have apologised you we're not informed but the engineer that was there this morning did attended today to look into the next steps needed to resolve the issue, there is now overlay needed. They have cancelled the work order as next steps are being discussed and as soon as they have a date they will be in touch.

I am very sorry this has happened Simon, I wish I could do more and get this resolved now for you but it is out of my hands and in the hands of Netomnia to make the arrangements to get this issue resolved and a date set.

Up to you but I'd wait to avoid OR if you can..

Shame this has happened, but could easily have done so with an OR installation too...

Yea I suppose I'm no rush just it's the second  time with the same issue and just can't see them get organised to put the overlay in. I think they are just doing the easy installs. I give them a few days and see if I get any feedback :fingers:
