Openreach have been trialing a 18/2MB tier FTTC service on some cabinets to see if a lower spec/priced service will encourage users to move off ADSL - especially where ADSL speeds are lowish

SIM Availability refers to a simultaneous provide, i.e. an engineer doing both the line and FTTC jumpering at the same time.

This ^^
I'd also guess the cabinet is full if the product shows available only on the SIM availability part.

My cabinet recently had a waiters list, it doesn't now but still only shows the sim provide as available for 18/2.

I was aware of the background, but not sure of the actual terms used in the checker. Thanks both! Yes my cab has been full for some while, even though there is a second FTTC unit associated with the PCP (my thread "Then there were two"). On that I'm rather surprised, that's there's still a waiting list. Either the take up is massive, or getting the new FTTC cab running is a problem?

. . . getting the new FTTC cab running is a problem?

That would be my conclusion, not so much a problem, just a case of getting the right "little man" on site with the appropriate size elastic bands and paper clips, etc. I.e. the commissioning of the electronics and getting the DSLAM/MSAN itself "on-line".

They could have gone to Staples! Don't give me a Ryman's look  for that!
