GEA Test Results, I am banded but it doesn't look like it?
« on: August 01, 2016, 03:42:19 PM »

Hi Everyone, My Line is still banded at 59995 since the thunderstorm incident a few weeks ago. I am also still waiting on G.INP and its been over 4 weeks now. I asked for GEA Test to be done on my line and here are the results:

As you can see, its says the profile is "0.128M - 80M" but I am banded at 59995?

Also I am guessing where it says at the bottom "Error protection off", that means G.INP? If it is that is pretty good as people with Modems with not much stats can find out if they have G.INP if they get one of these tests done.

Thanks  :)

Can't honestly see anything wrong - given your line length I'd say you are doing well with your current sync rate. You might have gained slightly from having G.INP enabled - I remember myself also having a slight bump.

Are you on a ECI cabinet or Huawei?

Isn't this what @kitz reported in her thread recently? That the line acted as though banding exists, but a GEA test says otherwise? And was eventually lifted.

"Error protection off" means fastpath. INP=0, delay=0.

The other options are:
Interleaving low
Interleaving high
Retransmission low
Retransmission high.

I am on an Huawei cabinet, to be honest the line isn't doing as well as it was before the switch from BT to Plusnet. This line with G.INP and no banding can get a sync rate of 68mb no problem, which is what I am hoping for once it settles down. I am tempted to give the modem a restart as it says the Profile is up to 80mb, but the last three or so resyncs have all been 59995 even tho my SNR is around 6.7.

My username is GaZaai on MyDSLWebStats if you are interested in taking a further look.

Thanks

Oh thanks for that, I wont bother with a restart then. So is this a problem with the GEA Test do you think? or either that these "new" DLM changes might not be picked up by the test yet for some reason.

Edit: Gave into temptation and re synced the line anyway lol. No change...

Sorry to slightly go off topic, but can the end user ask for a GEA test if they're with BT?

I believe so William, go into Online Chat and ask for the results of a GEA Test for your line.

you not banded according to that GEA test, note is shows 0.128-80 near the bottom in profile section.  So the upper sync limit is set to 80mbit.

Ok, thanks. I shall request that shortly.

Interesting, just out of curiosity gazaai, you haven't by any chance set the data rate to 60000 through the telnet interface?

According to the GEA test I am not, but look at my re syncs every one is 59995 and my SNR is now 6.8, I done another one 5 minutes ago

No William I haven't messed around with settings like that, but how would I go around checking that to be sure?

Go into a cmd and type "telnet 192.168.1.254", then type the username and password, then type adsl configure --maxDataRate 80000 20000 100000. The modem will then resync and then we'll see what the result is.

I think I may leave that for now William, don't want to do another resync today, but thanks anyway

all the recent GEA tests I've seen with banded lines have shown 0.128M-80M. certainly if a number of consecutive resyncs have all been 59995 with spare SNRM it's definitely banded. forcing a manual resync is never going to help.
Also I am guessing where it says at the bottom "Error protection off", that means G.INP? If it is that is pretty good as people with Modems with not much stats can find out if they have G.INP if they get one of these tests done.
G.INP shows as retransmission low/high on a GEA test
