Three UK to Trial Network-Level Mobile Ad Blocking on 13th June

Quote
Earlier this year Three UK announced that it intended to become one of the first UK mobile operators to roll-out network-level advert blocking technology for its Mobile Broadband (3G and 4G) customers. The operator has now confirmed that their first 24-hour trial will be run in mid-June 2016.

Most people have a natural dislike for advertising, although at the same time much of the “free” content that we all consume online is either partly or totally dependent upon it, which is also true of many commercial services like TV and newspapers etc. Many information sites like ISPreview.co.uk simply wouldn’t exist in their current form without financial support to help cover the bills.

content is only really free when it is not ad supported.  If the authors of sites that refuse to run advert free stopped describing their sites as free then people would perhaps realise more the consequences of ad blocking en masse.

I don't mind non-invasive adverts, and if it helps sites stay free then that's a good thing. Some sites have dreadful adverts, springing out of the pages, now those I would happily block!

also all the tracking stuff thst slows down page loads,  news vendors seem the worst for this with the browser having to load ten plus hostnames mainly ads and trackers,  that i consider excessive and a reason to use ublock
