Local area power cut has increased US SNR dramatically
« on: February 17, 2016, 08:31:08 PM »

Hi guys, this morning my area had a power cut for over an hour. Once the power came back my modem must have been one of the first to reconnect as my downstream rate had increased from the usual 69mb to 74mb as there was less crosstalk.

My SNR has obviously lowered now down to 5.1 but what I don't understand is how my SNR on the upstream is now so high all of a sudden.

Here is the graph:

What do you guys think has caused this change?

thanks

All I can think of is the upstream has more crosstalk than your downstream

Yes but wouldn't the crosstalk have returned by now its been over 10 hours so you would think that what ever had been causing the interference would be back on by now. Hopefuly it wont return  :fingers:

You might like to get some comments on what has happened to the Quiet Line plot since the power cut....

Attached are the current  plots  (top) and just before the power cut (bottom)...

It's gone all fuzzy! Yuck. :yuck:

I would recommend powering down the modem, disconnecting the link cable attaching the modem to the centralised filter and then leave the circuit in that state overnight. By giving the port on the DSLAM's line-card sufficient time to "relax", normality should be restored by tomorrow.

Nope it took 4-5 days the last I had a power cut for the crosstalk disturbers line to bare it's teeth honestly I thought vectoring was alive & well it is only temporary the next time the crosstalk disturbers modem resyncs you will see a change in your stats and then you will need to resync your modem to get back to normal stats.

remember crosstalk works in both directions , you effect the disturber and the disturber effects you

I do not want to restart the modem tho as this is the fastest speed my line has had for a while now lol

If I see in impact on performance I'll power it down for a while and let it relax. Cheers
