All,
I would welcome any thoughts you may have about the quality of my FTTC line. I currently only have a 40/10 profile but would be interested in upgrading to a faster service in future if that makes sense for me.
My data can be found under gt94sss2 on
http://www.mydslwebstats.co.uk/As my line has been up for about 80 days now, I am planning to reboot soon (I've locked myself out of the HG612 GUI while trying to get it to respond to pings!) and am particularity interested in what my line stats currently reveal (such as Hlog, QLN, CRC/FEC errors, bits/tone etc.) - for instance I currently have one of the highest FEC errors of any user on MDWS (though I don't remember this happening when G.INP was first enabled on the line)
The SNR also varies a lot at times but I believe this is due to the old NC10 netbook I use to run DSLStats - its power jack is loose and when its charging its battery the SNR falls - as it does if I put an Ethernet cable in it. (both are repeatable).
However, the SNR also changes when I receive a telephone call. For instance, during a recent call the SNR changed as follows:
Down Up
12.1 13.7 (before the call)
12.3 13.1
11.8. 13.6
12.1, 13.7 (after the call)
Why would my SNR change when I receive a call? Is it a sign of a fault?
I am about 500m from my Huawei cabinet - virtually at the end of my local loop but 30+ flats are being built about 200 meters closer to the cabinet and 8 flats on my other side (so BT have just put a new chamber in for when these are constructed - so there is a real possibility of more FTTC connections/crosstalk in future.
TIA for any assistance
