HG612 Bridged - Line 2
« on: May 02, 2015, 11:35:47 AM »

I'm pretty sure the answer to this is a big no, but I just want to check.

I don't have any spare ports left on my router for Line 2 of the HG612. I therefore have a rPI connected directly to the Line 2 connection and that's running DSLStats. That's fine and dandy but I don't suppose there's any possible advanced config where that interface could reach or be visible from the outside is there? Independent of Line 1?

Just wondering if there is any way in this config to upload my stats or conversely get to my stats over web interface.

Could you put a wireless dongle on the raspberry Pi. You could then access the Pi via that and view dslstats that way.

I run shibby's tomatousb on an n66u to a hg612 and access the stats without issue.

On the router:
basic / WAN is set to DHCP (I'm on TT so no pw, etc.)

I put the IP address of the modem in basic/network and it produces this in advanced/routing:

Destination   | Gateway / Next Hop |   Subnet Mask |   Metric |   Interface
192.168.10.6 |   * |   255.255.255.255 |   0 |   vlan2 (WAN)

The only changes from my unlocking on the HG612 are:
Basic / WAN - unbind LAN1/2

Thanks

You don't need 2 ports on your router.

Basic / WAN - unbind LAN1/2

Ahh...that may be the important bit

@martinW

you can try that but ensure the hg612 is on the same subnet

if your router is 192.168.0.1 make the hg612 192.168.0.250 also make sure the dhcp range does not include the hg612's new ip address.

Mine isn't on the same.

I know; it does depend on what router martinW has (and what firmwear) try this method first; and if that does not work then try changing to a different subnet by adding a vlan.

Ah, OK.

My router is a TP-Link 8980. My routers IP range is 172.16.5.0. I'm giving out something like 172.16.5.120 - 130 as DHCP ? I'd have to check that.

[EDIT] Clarified router model - should have just looked at my open browser tab title :p

Can you set the hg612 at say 172.16.5.11; then as IMgoRt said

If using the default settings you only have to
i)uncheck LAN1
ii)then save settings
iii)then try to access the modem (172.16.5.11) using any device on the network.

Well, I got the modem to be IP 172.16.5.3 easy enough but no combination of settings from there could get it accessible from my main network (i.e. LAN1 on the modem). Just having to soft reset it now as I've managed a combination that has completely locked me out of LAN2. Oops!

Have you telnet access to the router??

If you have try Plan B

i) Change the modem to another network subnet say 172.16.3.3
ii) Have a read through this post http://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-to-access-modem-through-router.11448/ and run the ifconfig command (ifconfig eth0:0 172.16.3.253 netmask 255.255.255.0) followed by the iptables command.

Make sure that on the hg612 (basic >WAN >unchecked bind LAN1)

Hope this helps.
