Cable Network Maps
« on: April 26, 2015, 10:05:31 PM »

Got serious problems with my connection, gone from 50Mb down to 17Mb sometime lower in the wet, been down to 1.5Mb & BT has said this is acceptable.
Cause of all my grief is roughly 300metres of rotton aluminum cable, which has been confirmed by numerous engineers :(.
I want a map showing cable routing along a High Street & what cable it is, & an accurate figure for it's overall length.

Found this linky, can ordinary oiks like me,make use of this service.

Your question seems confusing ...... is it not a case of simply trying the link to see if you can use it ??

Er, BS, if you had "tried" it yourself you would see the answer is a clear NO!  :P

Looks like this isn't in any way for Joe public as you have to register and pay and supply company/utility ID.

I know the cable route, just need more details on it, etc, had a openreach bod here, showed me map on his laptop, but wouldn't let me have a printout. :(

Hey, no worries KIAB.  :) :) Until HP pointed out it's a 'pay for' service, I initially thought it was strange you posted the link and then asked the question that you did ?? it makes sense now.  :)
I wonder if the site was designed for other utilities to access ??? I've never seen it before, but as I commented above, I've never needed to as we have access to all network plant using our 'GEO Hub' access.
