The true impact of EFM on ADSL
« on: November 11, 2014, 05:15:51 PM »

I wonder if anyone can help me out with this?

I've been trying to work out where exactly the frequency overlap is between ADSL and G.SHDSL.biz/EFM/bonded SDSL.

The broadband forum has this handy document:

http://www.broadband-forum.org/marketing/download/mktgdocs/SHDSL_wp.pdf

which highlights the following:

but as you can see, this is at 768Kb only. EFM is commonly deployed as a 10Mb circuit, with at least two TPs in the bond.

Exactly how much of the ADSL band is negated, I wonder?

I dont know, but I did find a document about Copper EFM bonding to get 10Mbps & using Annex_J PSD masks if its any use.

In fact, that looks brilliant. We could side step the entire issue of DMT vs PAM? (Which I still don't understand!)

Bin ATM, bin the voice band. Bonded ADSL delivered with PTM.

Everyone's a winner? :D
