I meant to respond to BEs post the other day, but another post elsewhere reminded me to revisit this.. and I was concerned by me adding the following information that it may take the original thread off topic and confuse things.. so Ive split the relevant posts into a new thread.
I don't know if this is used to report the single attenuation value, but tones 232 to 239 (tone 232 is approx 1 MHz frequency) report -24.875 in my Hlog data:-
What is reported for Hlog at tone 232 to tone 239 on your connection?
If it is approximately 14.8dB, it might confirm what data is actually used to report the single DS attenuation value.
These are my tones 232 to 239
232 -9.1875
233 -9.1875
234 -9.1875
235 -9.1875
236 -9.1875
237 -9.1875
238 -9.1875
239 -9.1875
One thing that the Zyxel does do in the web GUI is (like the HG612) record attenuation as a single figure. I'll attach a screen cap from last week the GUI so you can see its giving me the following figures
Total Attenuation: 12.2 dB 12.8 dB
These figures can change slightly.. for example Im currently showing
Total Attenuation: 12.6 dB 12.8 dB
When using the TP-link I would get
Line Attenuation (dB) 16.1 16.4
As with the Zyxel, my upstream atten was prone to change by the odd 0.1 dB after a resync of the TPlink, so I have some figures such as 16.2 dB etc.
I dont know where the Zyxel is getting those figures from as they dont appear to show in any of the usual commands such as pbParams.
For reference, these are my pbParams figures
