How to Connect to Windows Network when using Ubuntu 7.10

I hope this will help others.
I was having problems seeing files on a XP computer on my home network.
I installed 'Firestarter' firewall (System>Administration>Synaptic package manager ).
I then followed this post
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=190542
I could then 'Mount' a share (Places>Connect to server .. changing server type to 'Windows Server' )
on my desktop and it allowed me to copy files (eg photos/ audio etc.) to my Ubuntu computer from an XP.

Yes, that posting is a little gem isn't it? Firewalling is one of those areas which can get a little geeky in many distros.

It's very useful, I didn't need a firewall because my network is at the back of a Smoothwall firewall
http://www.smoothwall.org/
But you need it to change the IP Tables so you can let parts of your system talk to each other.
