I would suggest finding the supervisor password as this may enable you to enable options such as "Reboot" on the normal Maintenance menu. Instructions for doing this are in other threads.
Flashing the latest v.20 firmware, with an Eircom header, in effect unlocks the F1000. When the v.21 firmware is released, the F1000 should accept it. No need to open the router and do the unlock procedure.
Hi Dermot, thanks for all of your posts on the Eir F1000 (I've seen your posts here and on other forums). If I upgrade my (now ancient) firmware on the F1000 to the latest v28 (your later post dated Jan 2019 here), will my F1000 be unlocked so that it will accept generic ZyXEL firmware releases in the future (without needing to modify the header) ?Thanks, John
The software that check's if your fw is correct will be replaced with the new unlocked fw that allows you the use the normal fw from Zyxel.
This is not correct. Flashing the header-modified firmware DOES NOT unlock the Eir...come next firmware you will again need a header-modified firmware in order to flash into your Eir F1000...
Sorry for the brainfart. How is this done ?So for proper un-locking there is only 1 method, the serial cable ?
NP, indeed afaik that's the only way for the time being unless someone else comes up with an alternative
Version 28 (reply #867) for the 8924 was released in early Jan but I guess you can expect fewer updates since the device is getting on (launched 2014?) - unless of course a bug/flaw is identified in the firmware...
