Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

You will need to check back through Howlingwolf's posts for the exact name of the image and the location from whence it can be downloaded but I can confirm that he did build a variation of the bcm96368MVWG_fs_kernel_HG612V100R001C01B028SP10 firmware image that has the BTAgent removed.

I know that image as bcm96368MVWG_fs_kernel_HG612V100R001C01B028SP10_Wolfy_No_BTAgent and its corresponding md5 hash is --

Yeah I have that firmware on my modem now, but it's 35m Blob, I'm after the original blob with BT agent removed if such firmware exists?

For some reason the 35m and the new BT blob are worse for my line, It's a short line with max sync and high attainable rate. With the original blob I get 0 errors over 24 hours, with the other two I get 30 to 50 errors, may not sound much - but hey? :D

:hmm:  Hmm . . . I don't think Wolfy applied his paws to that original image.

However I'll be happy to be shown as wrong . . . Maybe N*Star has a better recollection of the details?  :-\

TBH BC I still get confused with all the Versions of firmware the only one I can think of if lockeh has tried wolfys version, then he must be looking for Asbos Version which has the BTAgent.

good to see someone who has same experience, I think the newer blob is better for longer lines.  For me the newer blob like yourself does have higher error rates.

Ok Lockeh your looking for the Original unlocked Firmware (Asbos) then you will find it here
http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/hg612unlock.htm and it's A2pv6C035m.d22g V100R001C01B028SP10unlocked002

The BT agent is active in this Firmware you will need to deactivate it by using the Command Prompt and type Telnet (you may have to enable this in windows)
login into router using the letter O 192.168.1.1
type ADMIN
type ADMIN
then you get ATP>
type sh
now type killall -KILL start btagent

thats it until you reboot the Hg612/unpluging it from power source then you will have to repeat the steps above again.

Does anyone know when using Asbo's original unlocked firmware, whether or not just deleting the PTM.301 VLAN will block any upgrades even when the BTagent is still active?

Hello bob8. Welcome to the Kitz forum.

You ask a very good question and, to be honest, my answer is to say "I do not know". It would be best to assume that the busy-body has more than one method of "calling home" so even with the tagged vlan deleted, it would also be prudent to terminate the BTAgent. (The super-cautious will also unmount (using a umount call) the partition that is provided for its activity.)

A BTAgent can be found in the firmware of other CPEs that bears the Beattie Group name, so I would assume that there is a significant degree of commonality between all the variants of the little snitch.

I would be happy to do that as the modem doesn't get turned off. I have done them steps in your post and somehow BT still managed to update the modem every time?

That's not good, the kill BT agent worked fine for me when using Asbos firmware, when entering the killall -KILL start btagent command you won't get a any acknowledgement on screen that it's been accepted.

Maybe one of the other Members on Kitz can help you out with the Kill BT Agent issue  :-\

Is it not possible to run the TOP command to see whether the btagent was successfully killed?

You can certainly check (ps is one way) and the killall command does kill the BTAgent processes, but it could possibly be the case that there's some other process which can enable remote upgrading.
