Thunderbird 13 is out as well..... FF13 installed itself without asking, so I've stopped that malarkey now!!

With FF13 I would strongly recommend browsing to about:config and set browser.newtabpage.enabled to false (toggle it).
It currently snapshots all sessions, even https ones. Yes really.
Mozilla know, fix is on the way.
