BT had originally planned to install 108 fibre cabinets in the borough, covering 24,000 homes and businesses, but has now abandoned the plans after Kensington and Chelsea Council refused or shelved 96 of BT's planning applications for the cabinets.
I just love this response by BT
"The council said the cabinets weren't in keeping with the historic streetscape. Now they can have the historic broadband to match,"
The unfortunate thing is local businesses and residents will suffer.
Im pretty sure that something could be done if the council pulled their finger out.
After all what would have happened if the council had said no to the traditional green cabs or substations or power masts or whatever.
How many of us pass green cabs every day and never even notice they are there.
I bet they spent several thousand pounds objecting and debating... hey what if they spent that £ by offering to paint the cabs or stick some flower pots around them or whateva :rolls eyes:
I couldnt care less if BT wanted to stick a cab on the pavement outside my house - bring it on BT!... I'd just plant some shrubs around the back of it.
