Router Location
« on: October 20, 2011, 06:07:06 PM »

Hi all,

I'll be getting a new Home Hub 3 in about a weeks time, and as I'm used to G routers, I understand this 'N' router will provide better coverage.

The only place I can put it which is near the main BT socket is behind a HDTV and the speakers. Would this be ok or is it not wise to have it anywhere near stuff like this?

My current Netgear router is upstairs and not on the master socket, however I would prefer it at the main socket.

Thanks

That would mean having it upstairs though at the non master socket.

I haven't noticed any difference in speed between the upstairs socket and the master socket.

I would suggest that you connect it at the extension socket and observe its typical performance.

With the HH3 connected there, note the three important parameters  -- the sync speeds, attenuation values and the SNRM values (as soon as possible after connecting it) and then post that data here, for examination.
