A Puzzle Without A Prize
« on: September 24, 2011, 11:03:04 PM »

Here is something for those members who like to exercise their brains on non-data communication puzzles.

What is the connection between roseway & soms, tuftedduck & renluop, UncleUB & burakkucat, kitz & Accordion and, finally, scottiesmum & Azzaka?

There are no prizes available  and I cannot be bribed. :-X

A little hint -- they are all names of members of the Kitz fora, so . . .

I've only just looked in on this little puzzle, and I confess to being as baffled as the others. Your little hint wasn't very hintful. ;D

Hmm, let me continue the sentence from where I previously let it trail away. :-\

. . . perhaps one should call up the list of members and see if you can find an arrangement that displays those names appropriately.

Over a week has passed and no one has made the correct connection, so I guess it is now time to explain.

If one were to call up the list of members it is presented in alphabetical order, by default. However it is possible to sort the member list by number of posts. The first five names seen on the first page are roseway, tuftedduck, UncleUB, kitz and scottiesmum. Now select the second page and the first five names seen are soms, renluop, burakkucat, Accordion and Azzaka.

QED.  :)

(b*cat now climbs to the top of the tree, well out of range of Smum's baseball bat.  :P  )

A few years on, b*cat unearths this thread and notices that he is now some distance behind but in clear sight of Kitz' tail.  ::)
