Virgin Media increases prices
« on: August 29, 2011, 02:47:02 PM »

Have this am received a letter from Virgin Media advising me that as of 15th. October 2011 my VM National ( adsl bb only ) service charge will increase by £5.00 per month.

Presumably their other tariffs will increase in line with that.

 :(

That's a large increase. It rather suggests that they don't want to keep their ADSL customers (which may well be the case).

I agree Roseway, that is one massive rise.
Hopefully you have an alternative tuftedduck.

Have just looked out my current agreement with VM...........the current rate is for me is £18.35 pm ( did not realise it was as high as that), and it will be going to £23.35 pm from October.
At that level of cost I would certainly be better switching to the likes of Zen.......where I suspect I would get my full money's worth.

I could go to an all round cheaper source, but I would think that most ISP's will want a price hike soon.......where to go ?

edit to add............

@ roseway. You are probably correct. I quote from the letter.....

quote " Of course, if you'd like to move to another broadband company, we'll be sorry to see you go, but we'll do everything we can to make sure the switch goes smoothly"

@ AdrianH ........no LLU operators in my exchange, unfortunately.

Nah then TD,I can ere commotion reight darn 'ill.  :D

You should get the 3rd book in the series...........Werz Me Broadband

Right then........iirc correctly,no LLU for TD,his exchange is Market 1 ,and he lives quite close to the exchange (caretaker close)  ;)

I would still be inclined to go with Zen(great support)  closely followed by Newnet

Looking at what Uncle has written --

-- why not consider the Evil Empire itself, BT retail? (Please don't waste your time throwing old boots at me . . . you'll more likely than not miss! ) If TD is that close to the exchange, I would expect that he will obtain pretty much the maximum sync speed for the line.
