Best email client and why?
« on: August 28, 2011, 06:37:29 PM »

I am debating if Thunderbird 6 is for me, as setting it up again after reinstalling Windows has not been as easy as with earlier versions.

I would like opinions on what is out there, that would work with Plusnet and a number of mailboxes.

Thanks all in anticipation :)

Hi renluop,

I use Thunderbird 6 for multiple mailboxes & different accounts with Plusnet.
It was a bit of a pain to set up though.

I preferred Outlook Express (simple but functional), but that doesn't work with Windows 7.

Outlook works, but doesn't have newsgroup facilities.

Which version of Windows are you using & what features do you need from your email program?

Paul.

Nothing more than what TB in its less complicated form offered. Its flexible mail boxes, and acceptance of  webmail clients are an attraction. Win7 64 Home Premium

I use Windows Live Mail on my Win7 machine . It has plenty of features and is easy to use.

Have a look at Forte Agent.

It is fast and very secure as it can handle emails in text mode - hence avoids issues with attachments or scripts. Also includes a news reader.

You can run it from a memory stick as it makes minimal demands of the registry.
