England is number one in the world
« on: August 13, 2011, 03:40:17 PM »

I'm talking about test cricket of course. Until the latest series India was rated number one, but we've just thoroughly beaten them in a very one-sided contest, giving us an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series and establishing us as the top test playing side in the world.

Something to be a bit proud of, and it's also worth observing that the latest match was held at Edgbaston, just a short distance from where the Birmingham riots took place. On the first day, smoke could be seen rising from behind the main stand. But there was never any thought of cancelling the match, and it was played to packed crowds with no trouble at all. What a contrast to the ugly events nearby.

Brilliant stuff......They are playing marvellous cricket at present. :clap2:

There is a saying in cricket.....whenever there is a Yorkshireman in the England team they will do well. ;)

(and no I haven't just made it up) ;D

I have been very disappointed in the Indian performances though, especially their batting

They obviously haven't got any Yorkshiremen playing for them then!
